Roughly two weeks after bringing on grad transfer Lamarr “Fresh” Kimble we now know where his scholarship is coming from.
In a conversation with Danielle Lerner of the Courier-Journal Mack says he doesn’t expect V.J. King to return to Louisville next season.
“I’ve had talks with V.J. since the season concluded,” Mack wrote in a text message. “He’s going to do everything in his power to get a shot at the next level through workouts, etc. If that isn’t on the table he will be in a position to finish school, enter the transfer portal and find a new home in D1 for his final season.”
Earlier this month King decided to enter his name in the NBA Draft and go through the process. At that time we learned that V.J. would be able to earn his degree in this year, which means he will be able to play right away if he chooses to return to college and transfer elsewhere.
King’s Louisville career didn’t go the way anyone expected, but I know I’m not alone in hoping he has a successful future.<
