University of Louisville interim President Dr. Greg Postel appears confident about the school’s appeal to the NCAA.

“If one is going to conduct an appeal, you have to have some sense that appeal is going to be successful” Postel said Wednesday following a U-of-L board of trustees meeting.

The men’s basketball program was hit with numerous penalties nearly two weeks ago when the NCAA handed down their ruling on the investigation. However, the school will only focus on two issues of the penalties throughout the appeals process.

U-of-L will appeal the vacation of more than 120 wins. which includes the 2013 national championship and a Final Four appearance in 2012. They’ll also appeal the NCAA’s ruling regarding the forfeiture of the funds received.

Rick Pitino will appeal his five game suspension on his own and not through the university.
