Two former Louisville Cardinals have signed practice squad deals in the NFL.
After being one of the last cuts for the Carolina Panthers, former Cardinal running back Reggie Bonnafon has inked a deal to join the franchises practice squad.
Former Louisville tight end Cole Hikutini spent his rookie season with the San Francisco 49ers, but was recently cut. He was later signed by the Minnesota Vikings to join their practice squad.
Bonnafon signed with Carolina as an undrafted free agent in the spring. The Louisville native didn’t get many reps during preseason action, but made the most of the brief opportunity in their finale.
Last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers Bonnafon caught all six passes that came his way for 56-yards and rushed for a touchdown.
Hiktuni went undrafted in 2017 and signed with the 49ers. He was eventually released, but later signed to the practice squad and was promoted to the active roster in October. In limited action, Hikutini had two receptions for 15 yards before going on injured reserve.<
