Cardinal Basketball

Thursday Afternoon Notes

I would like to dedicate these afternoon notes to Orenthal James Simpson…16 years ago today, on June 17, 1994, former football star O.J. Simpson led police on a dramatic highway chase after he was charged with the double murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman…Where were you during the chase???

— Jody Demling of the Courier-Journal is at the NBA Top 100 camp and is reporting that 2011 Cardinal Commit Zach Price will move to the city of Louisville for his last year of high school. Courier-Journal Link– I would not be suprised of Price ends up at J-Town with Coach Morrow. Another 2011 recruit Jakarr Sampson (6’8 Power Forward) of Baberton, OH has hinted that his college choice will likely be Louisville or Xavier. Jakarr is a rivals 4 star and ranked 68th in the class. Sampson will make a visit to Louisville on Monday along with Cardinal Commit Zach Price.

–Earlier I reported that there was a good chance that we may soon see Memphis and Central Florida in the Big East…Now Big East commissioner John Marinatto and other league officials say that an Orlando TV report claiming the Memphis and the University of Central Florida would be invited to join the Big East as soon as next week is inaccurate. I really thought the idea of bringing those two schools in would help the conference. Memphis has a proven track record for basketball and UCF could eventually help the conference greatly in football.

— This is completely unrelated to Cardinal athletics but it’s so funny I have to share…Texas A&M athletic director Bill Byrnes has recently been taking a lot of heat from Aggie fans who would have rather seen their team head to the SEC than remain in the Big12. After reading over 200 emails the other night Mr. Byrnes came across one that really set him off. The emailer left his phone number so Byrnes decided to give this guy a call and left him a voicemail letting him know that Byrnes may be a professional but that doesn’t mean he wont kick his ass…Check it out.
