To be blunt, DeVante Parker’s first four seasons in the NFL didn’t go according to plan. In fact, most Miami Dolphins fans would tell you he’s been a bust. Although the Louisville native has had some moments over the past four years, Parker simply hasn’t had enough for a 14th overall pick.
In year five it’s been a much different story for Parker.
To date, Parker has 18 receptions for 284 yards and 3 touchdowns in the Dolphins 6 games this season. That paces him out over 16 games to finish with a stat line of 48 receptions, 757 yards and 8 touchdowns. That would be a career high in both touchdowns and yards.
Unfortunately for Parker, timing isn’t on his side. After he signed a two-year franchise friendly deal with the Dolphins over the summer, they then decided to openly tank.
South Beach isn’t a bad place to call home, but if he wants to win, Parker needs to get out of Miami in a major way. Due to his boost in production this year, Parker is listed by multiple NFL gurus as one of the most likely trade candidates at the receiver position. The NFL trade dead line is at 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Oct. 29. Fingers crossed.<
