It was pretty obvious that Jawon Pass was going to be Louisville’s starting quarterback in week one. What we didn’t know is if Scott Satterfield would make it official with an announcement or just trot Pass out there on the first season.
During Monday’s press conference Satterfield announced that Pass will start next Monday against Notre Dame.
“With the time he’s missed (Malik Cunningham), Jawon will start for us,” Satterfield said when asked about his QB situation.
“A lot of it is going to depend on the next couples of days, but he’s looking good. We’ll know a lot more about Malik later in the week as far as if he’s going to be there.”
This is the second straight year Pass has entered the season as the starting QB. In 2018 he started 9 games, but briefly lost the gig to Malik Cunningham in the Cards week three win over Western Kentucky. In 11 games Pass completed 162-of-300 passes for 1,960 yards and eight touchdowns with 12 interceptions.
“There are times when he looks unbelievable, like really, really good,” Satterfield said of Pass. “He’s a big, tall and strong quarterback. When he stands in there and really follows through he looks how you are supposed to look. There’s times when his footwork is off and the ball sails on him, but he’s gotten a lot better than that.”
