After a five year hiatus, the Louisville vs. Marquette rivalry is back on.
It won’t feel like much of a rivalry match-up when the two teams face off on Friday afternoon in Brooklyn, but there’s a ton of history between the Cards and the Golden Eagles.
Louisville has played Marquette 68 times since 1951 with a 42-26 record. The two were conference foes in Conference USA and the Big East from 1996 – 2013. During those years 17 of the 31 games were decided by five points or less or in overtime.
Although it’s been five years since Louisville faced the Golden Eagles, Chris Mack has a 9-5 record against Marquette since the 2013-14 season.
Per VegasInsider.com, Marquette opened as a four point favorites following their 77-68 loss to No. 2 Kansas. The spread has since dropped to 3.5.
