Report: McDonald’s All American Brian Bowen Recently Visited Louisville

Just two weeks ago reports surfaced that Rick Pitino didn’t plan on using the one available scholarship he has for the 2017-18 season. Two weeks later it appears that Pitino and his staff are at least exploring their options.

Brian Bowen, a 6-foot-7, 175-pound, swingman from Saginaw, Michigan, is currently the highest ranked prospect from the 2017 class that has yet to decide on a school. Bowen is ranked as the 18th best overall player in the class and was named a McDonald’s All American.

Rick Pitino and his staff got in early on Bowen, offering him a scholarship over two years ago. Despite being on Piitno’s radar, Bowen didn’t appear to show much interest in UofL. He was down to Arizona, Michigan State, Creighton, Texas and North Carolina State for quite some time, but things have changed.

A handful of schools that previously appeared to be in the mix have moved on and there are now new contenders for Bowen’s services. One of those schools is UofL.

According to Bowen’s profile, Bowen took an unofficial visit to Louisville over the weekend. At this point, it’s unclear what his interest level in UofL is, but considering he and his family took a trip to Louisville I’d say the Cards are at the very least in consideration.

Despite being the only top 40 recruit from the 2017 class yet to make a college decision, Bowen doesn’t appear to be in any hurry. He’s also done a great job at not providing many hints as far as which way he’s leaning.

Again, it’s hard to tell where UofL stands with Bowen, but he’s certainly a name to keep an eye on.
