Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports reports that Louisville is one of three schools in the mix for one of the more highly coveted transfers in the country.
Ohio State redshirt freshman quarterback Tate Martell entered his name in the transfer portal earlier this week. His decision came shortly after Georgia quarterback transfer Justin Fields decided to transfer to Ohio State.
Wiltfong reports that West Virginia, Miami and Louisville are the three schools that Martell will consider. He visited West Virginia this weekend and will visit Miami on Monday. The report states that a visit date to Louisville couldn’t be confirmed.
Martell, who ranked as the No. 56 overall player in the 2017 class per the 247Sports Composite, is a two-time Gatorade National Player of the Year. The Las Vegas native was ranked as the 2nd best dual-threat quarterback in the 2017 class.
As a redshirt freshman in 2018 the 5-foot-11, 210-pound, QB finished 23-for-28 with 269 yards passing, one touchdown while averaging 9.6 yards per attempt.
Update: Martell’s visit has been scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday of this week.<
