Of the various November/December early season tournaments/events the Jimmy V Classic isn’t my favorite, but it’s certainly better than not being a part of one.
I’d prefer Texas Tech as the opponent given that they’re coming off a title game appearances. Regardless what expectations the Red Raiders have in 2019-20, I’d assume this would be a game against a highly ranked team this early in the season.
A match-up with Indiana wouldn’t be a bad thing considering the recent three-year series came to an end. With that said, I’m not sure how the Hoosiers would help Louisville’s strength of schedule next season.
UConn and Louisville had some memorable battles in the Big East days, but the Huskies have fallen on hard times in recent years. Dan Hurley will get them back on track, but I doubt they’ll be a top 25 team in his second season.
With an always loaded ACC schedule, the annual match-up with Kentucky, the ACC – Big 10 Challenge and now the Jimmy V Classic, Louisville will once again have one of the more challenging schedules in the country.<
