According to Rick Pitino, Preston Knowles is on track to rejoin the team full-time, but will serve a two game suspension for the preseason games and he may miss the season opener against Butler.
Quotes from the Courier-Journal
“He’s just about completed his penalties,” Pitino said. “He had two main things he had to do to get back on the team, and so far he’s on schedule.
“He’s working a job now, and he’ll have two weeks of volunteer work at the Daniel Pitino Shelter in Owensboro. After two weeks, if he gets a good report then he’ll be able to rejoin the team.”
“He will miss the exhibition games and possibly the game against Butler but he will be back on the team.”
Last month, Pitino said that Knowles status with the team “was in limbo” but it looks like Preston is getting his priorities in order and patching up things with Coach P.
I had a chance to talk to a couple of people close to the program, and from what I understand Knowles off-season problems have nothing to do with issues in the classroom or on the court. Pitino felt that Preston needed to make some changes in his life to become a better person. There were some issues that he handled irresponsibly, but since Pitino told the media about the situation Knowles has handled everything the right way and is back on track.
I expect Knowles will sit out the exhibition games and will play against Butler.<
