When introducing his coaching staff last night at the Cardinal Caravan in Shelbyville, Rick Pitino stated that while at Florida, his son Richard learned how to do things in a “second-rate league”, but has now made it back to the big time level, returning to the Big East.
Video courtesy of WHAS11: Pitino makes the comment with about 30 seconds left in the clip.
I imagine this is retaliation for John Calipari’s comments from a couple of weeks ago, where he said that the Big East gets too many teams into the tournament.
I imagine this will cause a riot from the Cayut fayuns, but it’s hard to argue with Rick’s statement. SEC basketball is second-rate compared to the Big East.
Atta boy Rick!
