Terrence Williams, New Jersey Nets – Overall Grade=A

Positives

  • Started all 5 games, averaged 18 points, 5 assists, and 3 rebounds in 28 minutes.
  • All Summer League First team Honors.
  • Dunked on anyone who got in the way.
  • For the most part, T-Will looked like the best player, at the Orlando League.
  • Proved he will make some noise around the league, next season.

Negatives

Earl Clark, Phoenix Suns – Overall Grade=B+

Positives

  • Started all 5 games averaged 15 points and 5 rebounds in 28 minutes.
  • Got to the the foul line nearly 8 times per game and shot 71%.
  • With the departure of Amare Stoudemire, Clark will now have a chance to show Phoenix if he was worth drafting at the 14th pick last year.

Negatives

  • Shooting 37% from the floor is bad…even in the NBA.
  • Overall Clark looked good, but many would argue Gani Lawal(46th pick in 2010 draft) outplayed him.
  • Earl decided to wear #55. The players who usually wear #55 have the swagger level of Bob Saget.

Chicago Bulls' Samardo Samuels, right, looks to take a shot over Sacramento Kings' DeMarcus Cousins, left, during an NBA Summer League basketball game

Samardo Samuels, Chicago Bulls – Overall Grade=B+

Positives

  • Started 3 games, averaged 12.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in 25 minutes.
  • Shot 62% from the field.
  • Finished second on the team in rebounding.
  • Chicago is thin at the power forward position.
  • Abused Demarcus Cousins.
  • I will no longer refer to him as Samantha Samuels.

Negatives

  • Still labeled as an undersized power forward.
  • Defensively Samardo struggles to stay in front of quicker players.

Edgar Sosa, Detroit Pistons – Overall Grade = B-

Positives

  • Started 2 games, averaged 6.5 points and 3 assists in 17 minutes.
  • Shot 40%, from behind the arc.
  • Proved he can compete at the Pro Level.
  • Looked great in transition.

Negatives

  • DNP in Pistons first game (Coaches Decision)
  • Shot 66% from the foul line, which is awful for a point guard.
  • Sosa played well and surprised me, but it is still a long shot for him to make the team. Players like Edgar are a dime a dozen in the NBA.

Jerry Smith, Milwaukee Bucks – Overall Grade = C

Positives

  • Looked good in Milwaukee’s debut, with 5 points and 3 rebounds in 13 minutes.

Negatives

  • Only played in 3 games, with his minutes decreasing as the league progressed.
  • Like always, Jerry played hard, but at times looked a little outmatched.
