There were plenty of factors in Louisville’s rapid rebuild in 2019. The development and improvement of quarterback Micale Cunningham was certainly one of them.
Cunningham was quietly one of the more efficient quarterbacks in college football in 2019.
In the last decade, Cunningham is one of five college quarterbacks to throw for 20+ passing touchdowns, have five or fewer interceptions and average at least ten yards per pass. The other four are Bryce Petty, Marcus Mariota, Russell Wilson and Tua Tagovailoa.
Pretty elite company, right?
LSU’s Joe Burrow and Ohio State’s Justin Field are the only two quarterbacks that had a higher passer grade with a clean pocket.
Cunningham led the ACC in passing efficiency rating in 2019 and is also second among ACC returning quarterbacks in rushing yards.
Maybe I’m biased, but I feel like Cunningham<
