Louisville’s opening game in the 2018 preseason NIT will be against the Tennessee Volunteers.
ESPN announced in November that Louisville, Marquette, Kansas and Tennessee would be the four teams competing in the annual preseason NIT.
College Basketball Insider Jon Rothstein reported earlier this week the pairings for the tournament.
Kansas will face Marquette and Tennessee will play Louisville in the first round of the Preseason NIT at the Barclays Center, per a source.

Tennessee is coming off a 26-9 season where they shared the SEC regular season title with Auburn. Rick Barnes brings back all contributors from his best season in Knoxville. ESPN’s “Way Too Early Top 25” has the Vols at No. 5.
Needless to say, beating Tennessee won’t be an easy task for Chris Mack in his debut season. However, if they do pull off the win the competition won’t be getting any easier.
Kansas should be big favorites over Marquette, considering the Jayhawks are picked their first or second in nearly every early preseason rankings you’ll find.
