Rick Pitino and his staff are off to a great start with their 2018 recruiting class. Both of Louisville’s two current commitments are ranked in the top thirty nationally. Five star guard Courtney Ramey is ranked 19th and four star guard Anfernee Simons is ranked 27th in Scout.com’s updated rankings.
Five star prospect Romeo Langford has been the top target for UofL for quite some time, but he’s not the only highly ranked player being courted by Rick Pitino.
On Tuesday morning five star power forward Naz “Big Jelly” Reid announced his final seven schools and Louisville made the cut. The 6-foot-9, 220-pound, prospect is also considering Arizona, Kentucky, Kansas, LSU, Seton Hall & UCLA.
“Big Jelly” is ranked as the 9th best player in the 2018 class, per Scout.com. Reports surfaced last month that Reid had planned on taking an unofficial visit to Louisville in June, but it doesn’t appear that has happened yet.
Although in the class, former UConn transfer Steven Enoch will become eligible in 2018 with two years of eligibility left. At 6-foot-10, Enoch will provide some needed size in 2018, but I’d say Pitino and his staff will still look at add at least one more post player. “Big Jelly” would certainly be a nice addition.
