The top ranked Louisville Cardinals will host No. 4 Michigan tonight, giving the program it’s first top five match-up in nearly five years.
The last time Louisville defeated a top five team while they were also ranked in the top five was during the 1979-80 season when the 2nd ranked Cards defeated No. 3 LSU.
Overall, Louisville is 4-11 all time in top five match-ups.

Tonight will be the third time in program history that Louisville has played a regular season game against as the top ranked team. The Cards played two games during the 2012-13 season at No.1, winning at UConn and then losing at home to Syracuse before dropping to No. 5. The four other games took place during Louisville’s 2009 NCAA Tournament run.
In games as a top five team going up against a team ranked in the top ten, Louisville is 15-14 overall with their last win coming against Michigan in the 2013 national championship when the Cards were ranked second and the Wolverines were ranked No. 10.
