Since Jeff Brohm’s rejection last week, Appalachian State head coach Scott Satterfield has moved to the top of the list as most likely to take over the Louisville program.
There is no way of knowing which candidates Vince Tyra is seriously considering and where they rank, but Satterfield confirmed on Friday that Louisville has reached out says he’d listen. Tyra and Satterfield are believed to have met on Sunday.
As of Monday morning I’d still consider Satterfield the heavy favorite, but rumors of a mystery candidate have swirled over the last 48-hours.
Thanks to FootballScoop.com we may know who that candidate was.
Per their report, Maryland offensive coordinator/interim head coach Matt Canada is expected to interview with Vince Tyra on Monday.
Canada earned some praise this season for how he held the team together throughout the off the field distractions. With that said, the team only won five games.
Prior to joining the Maryland staff, Canada was the offensive coordinator at LSU in 2017, but the two mutually parted ways after just one season. Canada was previously the offensive coordinator at Northern Illinois in 2011, Wisconsin in 2012, North Carolina State 2013-15 and Pittsburgh in 2016.
Needless to say, Canada wouldn’t exactly be an inspiring hire.
As mentioned, I still think Scott Satterfield is the guy, but this is definitely interesting…<
