Following a 2-10 season in 2018 the Louisville Cardinal football program wasn’t able to secure a commitment from any of the top ten ranked recruits from within the state.
In fact, three of the state’s top ten players were from Louisville and decided to leave home and play for Mark Stoops in Lexington.
On Tuesday morning Scott Satterfield and his staff took a small step in the right direction in reclaiming their home turf.
Jordan Watkins, a three-star receiver from Butler Traditional High School has given Louisville a verbal commitment.
Watkins verbally committed to Kentucky in June, but decided to reopen his recruitment earlier this months after taking an official visit to Louisville for the 41-39 win over Boston College.
The Louisville native made his commitment via his Twitter account.
