Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens handed the New England Patriots their first loss of the 2019 season on Sunday evening.
Jackson finished with 17 completions on 23 attempts for 163 yards, (7.1 yards per attempt) and one touchdown. He also rushed for 61 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries (3.8 yards per attempt).
“It’s pretty cool,” Jackson said of beating Brady and the Pats, “but I don’t care about the person I’m playing against and I don’t care if it’s a prime-time game or a 1 o’clock game. I’m just trying to win. That’s all that matters.”
The Ravens are now 6-2 and alone in first place in the AFC North.
With the win, Jackson is now generating some serious buzz as an NFL MVP candidate.
“The kid — he’s so tough,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said of Jackson following the win. “He’s smart. He’s got a great feel for the game. And he learns fast. One of the things I’ve noticed about him is he never makes the same mistake twice.”<
