Justin Coleman To Marshall

After failing to qualify at Louisville, Justin Coleman, will enroll at Marshall University in Huntington, WV.

“I have been speaking with Justin about Marshall since May when his eligibility starting looking suspect,” said Huntington Prep coach Rob Fulford. “Once we received his test score, we just felt Marshall was his best option.

“He is familiar with the area and vice-versa. I have developed a quick relationships with Coach (Tom) Herrion and am excited for Justin to be a member of the Marshall basketball team.”

“It is win-win for everyone,” Fulford said. “Marshall is getting the highest rated player they have ever had here and we are thrilled that he is coming from Huntington Prep. We are excited to have Justin back in Huntington. And as a Marshall graduate, I am looking forward to him in green and white.”

It’s a shame Justin didn’t end up at Louisville, but atleast he has found a home.

I am still a little confused as of why Pitino recruited this kid so hard. Coleman was ranked 40th nationally and seventh among small forwards in the 2010 class by, 50th overall and eighth among small forwards by and was listed 50th in the nation among ESPNU’s Top 100 prospects. With that kind of pub, you would think every school in the country would be after him, but most realized there was basically no chance he would qualify.

When a 5 star recruit only has 3 scholarship offers there usually is a good reason why. Pitino, probably knew Coleman would not qualify. However, the thought of a 5 star recruit from the 2010 class considering Louisville would definitly raise the moral around a program that recieced nothing but negative news for the past year.

At the time Coleman committed, Louisville was 5-5 in the Big East and had one commit from the 2010 class, who was a preferred walk on.
