Ellis is a member of the 2021 recruiting class, meaning he still has one more season of junior college left before he’ll enter the Division one ranks.
The North Carolina native earned Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors in the Panhandle Conference after averaging 14.3 points, 4.4 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game in 2019-20.
Ellis was originally a member of the 2019 recruiting class and despite having a sensational high school career where he scored over 2,000 points, he didn’t have high major suitors. He opted to take the junior college route over offers from Santa Clara, Southern, North Carolina Central, Eastern Kentucky, Kennesaw State and Charleston Southern.
That decision has paid off for Ellis. With one more season of junior college ball he holds offers from Louisville, Ole Miss, Nebraska, DePaul and Texas A&M, among others.<
