John Wallace, who is a 2011 commitment for the Cards, kicked off his senior season in a big way on Friday night. Wallace, who is a 6’1, 185 lb. kicker from Central Hardin High School, kicked a school record fifty yard field goal in a 31-14 victory over Logan County. Wallace also had a kick off go through the up rights, which is always impressive.
It’s very rare for a kicker to get a scholarship offer before their senior season, but Wallace was one of the first players offered a spot by Coach Strong in the 2011 class.
Wallace, who also plays basketball and soccer, will come in as a punter next season, due to the fact that junior kicker Chris Philpott has the starting gig locked up. Wallace will likely get an opportunity at kicker later in his career.
Central Hardin plays Spencer County Friday in the Kentucky National Guard Bowl at Central Hardin, for any Card fans who want to get a look at this boot.<
