Louisville commit Anfernee Simons has had as good of a summer on the circuit as any recruit in the 2018 class. It’s tough to predict where he’ll end up being ranked in the 2018 class, but don’t be surprised if he cracks the top five.
Simons played in the Steph Curry 30 Select Camp earlier this week on ESPN. During the broadcast, ESPN recruiting analyst Paul Biancardi says Simons was the best guard he’s watched play throughout the summer.
Per Jody Demling, Simons was recently invited to participate in the USA Basketball Mini Camp in Colorado Springs this October.
The high praise doesn’t stop there…
Evan Daniels of Scout.com was on the road covering recruiting throughout July during the evaluation periods talking with a handful of high major coaches. These coaches spoke anonymously and gave their opinion on best prospect and scorer they saw, plus the player they’d build around.
Simons was tabbed as one of the best scorers and received some very high praise from a major college basketball coach.
“He can score from all three levels,” one college coach said. “He can score from three, he’s athletic enough to finish at the rim jumping off one or two. He has a very good mid-range game and can score off of pull ups and screens. He scores behind the line with ball screens, using a ball screen and off of a pindown. And he’s really good in transition.”
“I think he can be a lottery pick,” a high major coach said. “I think he’s one and done. He’s scores it.”
Could Anfernee Simons be the first one and done for Rick Pitino?
