The Injury Bug Hits Louisville Football’s Backfield

Chris Humphrey

It took less than two weeks for the injury bug to hit the Louisville Cardinal football team.

Following Wednesday’s practice, Bobby Petrino announced that freshman running back Colin Wilson will be out of action for a while after suffering a broken hand. Wilson had a plate surgically inserted on Tuesday.

Wilson is now one of two running backs that are currently sidelined. Redshirt freshman Dae Williams suffered a torn ACL during spring practice and has yet to return to the field.

Despite Wilson’s injury, Petrino still seems to be very optimistic about the backfield. Reggie Bonnafon continues get reps as the first string back, while Jeremy Smith and Malik Williams have been plaaying well in practice, according to the coaches.
