It’s no secret that Chris Mack and his staff are looking to bring in a point guard in the 2020 class. Unfortunately one of Louisville’s top two targets at the point guard position is no longer considering the Cards.
Five-star prospect Caleb Love has been a top target for Chris Mack’s staff for quite some time. Louisville appeared to be in great shape with Love, but Evan Daniels of 247Sports reports that Love trimmed his list to North Carolina and Missouri. Love was scheduled to visit on Friday for Louisville Live, but the trip was cancelled. Prior to trimming his list to two Love was also considering Kansas and Arizona.
Four-star prospect Deivon Smith is the other top point guard target for the Louisville staff.
Smith took an official visit to Louisville earlier this month and Chris Mack returned the visit just a couple weeks later. Miami, Mississippi State and NC State appear to be Louisville’s top competition for Smith.
Chris Mack and his staff are also heavily involved with five-star combo-guard Devin Askew from the 2021 class. There was recent speculation that Askew might reclassify to the 2020, but earlier this week he confirmed he’d remain in 2021.
