DeVante Parker Shows Promise In 2018 Season Debut

The Miami Dolphins, surprisingly, won their third-straight game to open up the 2018 NFL regular season this past weekend. While that’s certainly noteworthy in professional football news, there was something which took place in the Dolphins game that all Louisville football fans will care about – DeVante Parker making his 2018 season-debut after missing time because of a broken finger.

The 25-year-old Parker has missed a ton of time already in the early stages of his NFL career, but when he’s been healthy, the former Cardinals superstar has showed some serious potential for Miami. While he didn’t have a huge game on Sunday versus the Raiders, his two receptions for 40 receiving yards is definitely promising, especially knowing one of those receptions was for 36 yards.

Obviously, as a huge Louisville football fan, I have high expectations for what Parker can accomplish in the NFL with Miami. In 2018, the Dolphins have relied on guys like: Kenny Stills, Albert Wilson, Jakeem Grant, and Danny Amendola to carry the load at receiver. However, I have zero doubts that Parker has the potential to become the most-dangerous option for quarterback Ryan Tannehill moving forward.

That said, everyone has been saying this same thing about Parker since he entered the league four years ago. Yes, he can be one of the game’s most-dangerous receivers, but he has to stay healthy.

Who knows, maybe this is finally the year he takes off? If that happens, Louisville fans everywhere will be the first in line to tell everyone, “I told you so”. Needless to say, that’s a day I can’t wait for.
