With NBA training camps just weeks away, a former Louisville Cardinal will have a chance to earn a roster spot. RealGM.com was the first to report that former UofL swingman Damion Lee has inked a deal with the Boston Celtics.
Surprisingly, Lee wasn’t invited to the NBA Draft Combine and didn’t hear his name called during the draft in June. He later chose to sign with the Miami Heat’s Summer League team. Lee averaged 7.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 16.7 minutes per game and wasn’t able to turn his summer league stint into a roster spot in Miami.
The financial terms of the deal haven’t been made public, but at best this is an opportunity for Lee. He’ll have to beat out quite a few other guards in order to make Boston’s 15-man roster.<
