During his introductory press conference Louisville head basketball coach Chris Mack confirmed that his wife Christi was in fact from Louisville.

You’d have to be in living under a rock to not know that Christi was born and raised in Louisville.

Mack was in on the running joke, but also stated that Christi being from Louisville and her family still living in the area were not the reasons that he took the job.

While most knew Coach Mack’s wife was a former Louisvillian, I’m not sure how many were aware that she was a serious baller back in the day.

Prior to taking the last name Mack, Christi Hester was one of the best players in the state of Kentucky at Louisville’s Holy Cross High School before having a super successful college career at Dayton.

Shortly after Mack was introduced as the next head coach at Louisville, the folks at WLKY dug up some highlights of Christi during her playing days at Holy Cross.

Hester-Mack was runner up for Miss Kentucky Basketball in 1996. Ironically, the winner was Jamie Walz, the sister of Louisville women’s head coach Jeff Walz.

The new first lady of Louisville basketball had a sensational career at Dayton. She scored 1,268 career points and was inducted in the Dayton Athletics Hall of Fame in 2014.

Coach Mack appears to have never seen highlights of his wife during her high school playing days.
