Chris Mack met with the media on Thursday afternoon to provide an update on his team and look ahead to Friday night’s match-up with Vermont.

For the first time this season Mack talked in depth about an opponent. Vermont will provide a much bigger challenge than Southern U and Nicholls State. The Catamounts have won 20 or more games in each of the last ten seasons and are coming off a competitive game at No. 2 Kansas.

Vermont had the lead for the majority of the first half and it wasn’t a fluke. In fact, Kansas was playing well and the Catamounts were simply playing better. In the end, the home court advantage in Lawrence kicked in and Kansas put them away.

Vermont has won the last two America East regular season titles, losing just one conference game combined in those two years. Chris Mack made a great point in that despite losing two time league player of the Trae Bell-Haynes to graduation, Vermont has a trio of players that have as good of a shot as anyone win the same award this year.

Mack also addressed his recent decision to no longer allow media members in the the locker room following games. Although there are a handful from the local media that are upset about this, Mack’s reasoning made sense.
