There were some message board rumors spreading early last week that redshirt freshman receiver Charles Gaines and sophomore defensive end BJ Dubose had been kicked off the team. As message board rumors usually do, that turned out to be false.

Although the two haven’t been kicked off the team, I’d say the two aren’t exactly in good graces with Charlie Strong. Neither Gaines nor Dubose played on Saturday against Temple. When asked about their status in his post game press conference, Strong said the two were currently suspended. As expected, Strong didn’t elaborate much on the situation, but when asked how long they’d be out, he said he hadn’t determined when the two would be back.

This is the second suspension of the season for Charles Gaines. He didn’t see any action in the season opener against Kentucky because Strong said he didn’t feel that Gaines deserved to play.  Once he made his debut, Gaines showed some tremendous play-making ability, but hasn’t been much of a factor in recent weeks.
