Cards & Huskies: Let’s Talk Strength Of Schedule

With Louisville and UConn sharing the same record (3-3 0-1), the strength of schedule would be the most accurate way to determine which team is having a better season.

Big East strength of schedule via GBEratings.com

1. 28-Cincinnati
2. 64-UConn
3. 67-Pitt
4. 72-WVU
5. 94-USF
6. 98-Rutgers
7. 107-Louisville
8. 119-Syracuse

According to the CBS Sports full 120 FBS team rankings, UConn is ranked 75 and Louisville is ranked 83.

Each team has 1 win over an FCS team. Louisville defeated EKU 23-3 and UConn blasted Texas Southern 62-3.

Louisville’s two other wins came over Arkansas St. 34-24, who is ranked 108, and Memphis 56-0, who is ranked 112. UConn’s two other wins came over Buffalo 45-21, who is ranked 92, and Vandy 40-21, who is ranked 90.

Louisville’s 3 loses came against Kentucky (41), Oregon State (43), and Cincinnati (61). While UConn’s three loses came against Michigan (31), Temple (56), and Rutgers (71).

While UConn’s two FBS victories have been over better opponents than Louisville’s, the Cards losses have been more competitive against better teams.

This is about even a match-up you will see in the Big East. One of these teams will have a big reality check on Saturday afternoon.
