Cards Get Back on Track in First Round of NCAA Regionals

The #2 overall seed Cards returned to the friendly confines of Jim Patterson Stadium last night and picked up an easy 6-1 win against Western Michigan in the first round of the NCAA Regionals.

Kyle Funkhouser picked up the win, scattering 4 hits over 8 innings.

The Cards broke the game open by scoring 2 runs in the 3 rd and 2 more in the 4th, to put the game out of reach early and coasted home from there, picking up 11 hits along the way. Cory Ray, Drew Ellis, and Blake Tiberi each had multiple hits, with Tiberi smacking a 2 run homer in the 7th.

The Cards will take on Ohio State, who defeated Wright State by scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th. That game will be at 4PM.
