At this point it may be safe to say that Brian Bowen’s recruitment is one of the more bizarre stories we’ve covered at The Cardinal Connect.
Rarely do you see a five star McDonald’s All American randomly decide he’s interested in UofL, despite not appearing on the radar for two years, but here we are.
Unless you follow recruiting pretty closely, you likely didn’t know who Brian Bowen was prior to Tuesday. The Michigan native is one of the top twenty players in the 2017 class, but Louisville didn’t appear to be in the mix for Bowen. The only reports involving both parties date back to 2014 when UofL offered him a scholarship. Since then, more than a dozen schools appears to be contenders for Bowen, but UofL wasn’t one of them.
We learned earlier this week that out of nowhere Louisville was back in the mix for Bowen and that he took an unofficial visit to UofL.
On Thursday afternoon Bowen revealed that he will announce his college decision this Saturday.

At this point, it’s safe to say that Bowen is trending towards Louisville, but his recruitment has been very unpredictable over the past year or so. The Courier Journal reports that Bowen has already in fact enrolled at UofL for summer classes, but hasn’t signed any type of letter of intent or financial aid agreement papers. Michigan State, DePaul and Creighton are all believed to be in the mix as well.
