Former Louisville Cardinal Brandon Radcliff didn’t hear his name called during this year’s NFL Draft, but he’ll at least get an opportunity to prove himself and potentially earn a roster spot.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Radcliff is working out with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Florida native was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Indianapolis Colts in April, but was later waived a week later.
With rookie running back James Conner sidelined with a shoulder injury and Le’Veon Bell in the early stages of his holdout, the Steelers are in the market for a serviceable ball carrier.
Radcliff had a better season in 2016 than most realize. In the shadows of Lamar Jackson, Radcliff rushed for 903 yards on 138 carries, an average of over 6.5-yards per carry. In his career at UofL Radcliff rushed for 2,365 yards and 26 touchdowns while averaging 5.4 yards per carry
Making the official Steelers roster won’t be easy, but given the circumstances, I’d say Radcliff has a shot.
