Not long after the University of Louisville’s board of trustees voted to terminate athletic director Tom Jurich, head football coach Bobby Petrino had to go on radio for his weekly coaches show.
Before talking about his team and Saturday’s match-up with Florida State, Petrino thanked Tom Jurich for everything he’s done.
“I’d just like to take a minute here, after what happened today, to thank Tom Jurich for everything that he did for me and my family and this university,” Petrino said on News Radio 840 WHAS.
“When you drive around campus and you look around and you see all the amazing facilities that we have, that was Tom’s vision and hard work and dedication to be able to get that done.
“One thing I think everyone really needs to understand is, Tom’s biggest thing was that he wanted to do everything he possibly could do for a student-athlete. The student-athlete comes first, and that we need to give him every opportunity to get the best education and the best experience being a student-athlete here at the university. I just thought I needed to take a minute and thank him for everything he’s done.”
