Louisville native and former Louisville Cardinal DeVante Parker was honored by his alma-mater on Tuesday night.
Ballard High School retired Parker’s No. 1 jersey at halftime of the Bruins varsity basketball game against the Jefferstontown Chargers.
Parker’s impact at Ballard wasn’t only felt on the gridiron. The Louisville native was a standout on the hardwood and was one of the state’s best two-sport athletes in quite some time.
As a senior Parker had 68 catches for 1,793 yards and 19 touchdowns and was a finalist for Mr. Football. He earned first team all state honors in basketball averaging 19 points and seven rebounds per game.<
Denver native by way of the Clifton neighborhood in the mean streets of Louisville. Lifelong Louisville man. Once shared a cab with Joseph N’Sima. Recovering Twitter addict – 2 years clean. Will never hang up and listen.
