If there was anyone out there still trying to deny Lamar Jackson’s ability to play the quarterback position in the NFL, they’ve never looked more foolish than they do right now.
The former Louisville Cardinal’s Monday Night Football debut couldn’t have been much better as Jackson matched his career high with five touchdown passes and ran for 95 yards in a blowout win against the Los Angeles Rams.
Jackson was already the betting favorite to win the NFL MVP award and after Monday night’s performance he’s likely created some comfortable separation. Lamar completed 15 of 20 passes for 169 yards was nearly perfect in the first half. He was 9-of-9 for 87 yards with three touchdowns and 80 rushing yards in the first two quarters.
“We’re clicking on all cylinders right now,” Jackson said. “It’s OK, but we’re trying to win the Super Bowl. This is cool, but we’re chasing that right now, and that’s what we’re focused on.”<
