CBSSports.com College Basketball columnist Gary Parrish thinks the Louisville – Butler match-up on Saturday will be best game of the weekend. I’m not the biggest fan of Gary Parrish, but touche, sir.
Top game: Rick Pitino is one of college basketball’s great veteran coaches. Brad Stevens is college basketball’s greatest (and most accomplished) young coach. Those two men will work against each other Saturday when No. 8 Louisville visits Butler, and the veteran coach with veteran Cardinals should be able to handle the Bulldogs, who lost their opener to Evansville. But it should be noted that Louisville point guard Peyton Siva might miss the game because of a bad ankle, and that could cause the Cards to trip at Hinkle.
As over-confident as it sounds, I think with a healthy Louisville team, this isn’t much a game at all. However, with five potential starters out that’s not exactly the case. Don’t be surprised if we see numerous crazy line-ups tomorrow. We’ll likely see a few line-ups that surprisingly work well and some that we frankly hope to never see again.
Siva is still listed as doubtful, but don’t be surprised if he plays tomorrow. I’m hearing it’s not nearly as serious as originally reported. Fingers crossed!
