We’re now less than a week away from the 2012 national signing day. The Cards have received 23 verbal commitments this year’s class. Although this 2012 recruiting class is thought to be complete, that hasn’t stopped Charlie Strong from hitting the recruiting trail and continuing to work.
Strong has been traveling all week putting the finishing touches on this year’s class. He was in Cleveland on Monday, meeting with 3-star cornerback Sean Draper. The 6-0 165 lb. defensive back doesn’t appear to have a clear leader at this point. Coach Strong reportedly wants Draper to be the last addition to this year’s class. Draper is expected to choose between Pittsburgh, Illinois, and Louisville on signing day.
Coach Strong was in Charlotte last night visiting with 4-star linebacker Nick Dawson who has already committed to the Cards. Many will ask why he’s visiting a kid who has already committed a week before signing day, but I think this is a smart move by Strong. Dawson is the star of this year’s class. He has obviously pitched Louisville to Dawson a number of times. However, you can never be too safe. There are a couple of recruits in year’s 2012 class who have decommitted from a school due to the fact that they didn’t like the way the coach treated them after they had committed.
