As of around 10 AM this morning, there hasn’t been any bad news for Bobby Petrino and his staff when it comes their 2017 recruiting class. Those who follow recruiting closely know that there there are good surprises and bad surprises that can happen on signing day.
The first surprise is a good one as three-star offensive lineman Mekki Becton chose to sign with Louisville this morning. Considering the UofL coaching staff made Becton a priority, I doubt they’d consider this a surprise, but the Virginia native wasn’t a previous commitment prior to signing day.
Becton is a 6-foot-7, 345-pound, offensive tackle who has a huge offer list. He chose Louisville over Michigan, Virginia Tech and Oregon.
Considering the offensive line was a big focus for Petrino and his staff with the 2017 recruiting class, I think it’s safe to say that this is great news.
