WDRB.com is reporting that Louisville redshirt sophomore to be, Mangok Mathiang, was arrested over the weekened.
Mathiang was reportedly arrested by the Louisville Metro Police Dept. on Saturday near Third Street.
The arrest citation states that Mathiang faces charges of drinking an alcoholic beverage in a public place, and failure to disperse.
I’m assuming this situation will be handled internally by Rick Pitino.
These are minor charges that Mathiang is facing, however I’m sure this isn’t the news that Coach Pitino was hoping to hear on Derby weekend.
Eric Crawford of WDRB reports that Mathiang was not charged with public intoxication and is in fact 21 years of age. He was charged with public drinking.
The police report states that Mathiang was walking down Central St. when someone he was with was arrested. Mathiang kept following police while the arrest was being made. He was asked to stop, but didn’t, which led to the failure to disperse charge.
Mathiang averaged 3.6 points and 3.6 rebounds in 14-minutes and was a started in 14 of Louisville’s 37 games.
