As we count down the months, weeks and days until football season begins, Bobby Petrino continues to add players to his 2014 recruiting class.
Last week it was junior college quarterback Pat Thomas who signed with Louisville and on Tuesday morning we learned that Petrino has added junior college safety Isaac Watson.
Coach Petrino made it well known throughout the spring that the safety position was an area of concern, especially with veteran Jermaine Reve suffering a knee injury that required surgery.
Watson spent the last two seasons at the College of San Mateo in California. He can play right away and has two years of eligibility remaining.
The 6-foot-2, 225-pound, defensive back is the second player out of San Mateo that has signed with Louisville. Defensive end Pio Vatuvei inked a letter of intent with the Cards last months.
Watson is originally from the Seattle, WA., area and wasn’t regarded as a high level recruit coming out of high school. He played both tight end and defensive back.
It’s unknown what other options Watson had, but the Cards definitely needed the depth at the safety position.
