Towards the end of the November, Eric Crawford of WDRB.com had an exclusive sit-down interview with Louisville head coach Rick Pitino. Considering the two recently wrote a book together, Pitino seems to always provide Mr. Crawford with some valuable info. He did exactly that in their recent interview.
Pitino tells Crawford that the University of Louisville has bought one hour of air time on ESPN for a special “Year of the Cardinal” documentary, which will commemorate UofL’s never before seen success in athletics during the 2013 season.
“Something I just did,” Pitino said. “They’re actually buying airtime on ESPN for an hour, the Year of the Cardinal, with all the sports, just to talk about it, as a marketing tool for the university and the athletic programs, which I think is pretty cool, because you don’t see too many years like this.”
Other than Pitino’s comments, there hasn’t been any mention from the University regarding this one hour special. However, one source says this is expected to be aired at some point in December.
Former Louisville center and current Minnesota Timberwolve Gorgui Dieng will apparently be a part of the documentary. The PR account for the Timberwolves Tweeted out this picture on Monday evening.
