Jeff Walz and the No. 7 ranked Lady Cards got a big time win over Missouri State on Tuesday evening. Louisville defeated the Bears 91-49. The Cards got off to a 24-8 lead and never looked back. They also forced a total of 24-turnovers.
Despite the huge win, there was a scary situation early on in the first half. Seniro forward Antonita Slaughter collapsed on the bench just three minutes into the game. It was initially reported that she had a seizure, however that hasn’t been officially concerned.
Slaughter was rushed to Jewish Hospital. UofL released a statement midway through the second half stating that Slaughter was “awake and answering questions from the doctors, but they wouldn’t know more until further tests were completed.
The senior forward is averaging 10-points and 6-rebounds per game for Jeff Walz. Slaughter played a huge role in the Lady Cards big time tournament run last season.
Senior Tia Gibbs shared a text that she received from Slaughter following the game last night via her Instagram account. Although it’s still unclear of what caused this incident, it appears that Slaughter is in good spirits.
