Louisville junior defensive end Lorenzo Mauldin was the victim of a hit & run accident this morning on the University of Louisville’s campus. Multiple witnesses have come forward, claiming Mauldin was driving a moped heading north on Floyd Street near the KFC Yum! Center practice facility. A car turning off of Floyd St. and on to Hahn Street hit Mauldin and then fled the scene. Police are currently looking for a champagne-colored sedan or compact car.
University police will be reviewing surveillance cameras in the area to try and find driver who hit Mauldin. @WHAS11

Mauldin was transported to Jewish Hospital where he was alert and responsive up arrival. Louisville sports information director Rocco Gasparro said shortly after 1 PM that preliminary tests on Mauldin have come back good. He will be kept overnight at the hospital for continued observation and evaluation for precautionary reasons.
Other than being alert and responsive, there hasn’t been any official update on the extent of his injuries. Jonathan Lintner of the Courier-Journal spoke with a Jewish Hospital spokesman who says Mauldin is in “satisfactory condition.” In the medical world this means that a patients’ “vital signs are stable and within normal limits” and that he is “conscious and comfortable and indicators are excellent.”
