Louisville junior defensive end Lorenzo Mauldin was involved in a moped accident shortly after 9 AM on Monday morning on campus outside of the Yum! practice facility. The Courier-Journal is reporting that Mauldin is currently at Jewish Hospital and is alert and responsive.
Mauldin was the victim of a hit & run. One source tells WDRB that the accident “appeared to be pretty bad.” University of Louisville sports information director Rocco Gasparro confirmed the accident shortly before 10 AM, but says they have no update on Mauldin’s current condition.
The C.J. also reports that as of 10:40, Mauldin is going through tests at the hospital. The University of Louisville campus police are currently looking for a champaigne colored sedan.
Mauldin started six games for Louisville as a sophomore and led the team with 4 ½ sacks.
