Since graduating from Louisville, Smith signed with with Icon Sports 360 out of Roanoke, VA. He worked out with the Dolphins in early April, but went undrafted. Surprisingly, Smith didn’t get a free agent contract offer following the draft.
Smith, a Miami native, played three seasons for the Louisville program. During his career, he caught a total of 1,120 yards and seven touchdowns. In 70 career receptions, Smith averaged 16.5 yards per catch.
His signing comes following the injuries sustained by Dolphin wide receivers Armon Binns and Rishard Matthews. Former Richmond/USC quarterback Aaron Corp was cut to make room for Smith.
Smith will have to make the final roster following training camp, which will be easier said than done.
