The First Louisville Football Depth Chart Of The 2013 Season

With just 47 days until the 2013 college football season starts, the official Louisville football media guide has been released, which means we get our first glimpse at the depth chart. One of the many things that I’ve learned after watching Charlie Strong run a program over the past few years is that the initial depth charts aren’t always accurate. In no way am I calling Charlie Strong a liar, but I think you can expect to see some changes to the depth chart once practice gets started.

A couple of positions that stand out to me on the initial depth chart are tight end and defensive tackle. I find it very hard to believe that Gerald Christian won’t be the full time starter at tight end. Ryan Hubbell and Zeke Pike will play, but Christian may be one of the bigger pieces to this year’s offense. Redshirt freshman Pedro Sibiea has jumped all the way up to second string at the defensive tackle position. That’s pretty impressive since he’s passed Roy Philon and BJ Dubose.

  1. Where’s B.J. Butler?

  2. Robert Clark starting over Rogers in the slot? That is puzzling. There will definitely be changes to this depth chart after summer camp shakes out. The BJ Butler omission was also notable. I also think Quick will move up the depth charts on KR and WR.

  3. Not too many diff but I did notice dubose to tackle and RANKINS back to end where he originally wanted to be.

  4. Hubbel over christian…..wow

    • I also noticed that Quick is only true Freshman on chart already. Got to believe hearns will be there QUICKly!

  5. Keith Eichenberger

    Is Jeremy Wright gone?

  6. Yes Jeremy is gone.

  7. Butler will see time this season at FB unless he gets injured. He is too talented not to. Keep an eye on Lamar Atkins too. He could be a gem if given the opportunity and is Keith Brown’s half brother. I think Devontre Purnell could be big this year too at CB if he heals up 100% over his shoulder injury.

  8. Is it me or are the linebackers, minus the Mike’s..are kinda small?

  9. i wanna see richard benjamin work his way into the lineup..he’s gonna be good!
