Pitino & Staff Targeting Mutiple Front Court Prospects In 2014

UofLStaff

During the first evaluation period of the summer, Rick Pitino and his assistant coaches were all on the road getting a closer look at some of the top prospects from the 2014 and 2015 classes. It’s been evident for the past few weeks that with the backcourt set in 2014, Pitino and staff will focus on front-court players from here on out.

When looking at the scholarship situation, it seemed as if Louisville will add four or possibly five recruits total in 2014. You can never be sure as of which players may leave early for the NBA, but it sounds like Pitino and his staff are telling recruits that both Montrezl Harrell and Chane Behanan will likely be gone after this season. It may not seem logical right now, but when it’s all said and done, Pitino may bring in a total of six players in 2014.

Here are the players who received quite a bit of attention from Louisville last week during the first evaluation period.

Trey Lyles, 6-foot-9, 210-pound, Five Star Forward

List: Louisville, Kentucky, Florida & Butler

Cliff Alexander, 6-foot-9, 230-pound, Five Star Center

List: Louisville, Kentucky, Michigan State, Memphis, Illinois, Kansas & Arizona.

Angel Delgado, 6-foot-8, 215-pound, Four Star Forward

List: Louisville, Kentucky, Dayton, Georgetown, Florida State & Seton Hall

Goodluck Okonoboh, 6-foot-9, 205-pound, Four Star Center

List: Louisville, Indiana, Duke, Syracuse, Providence & Ohio State

Jaylen Johnson, 6-foot-8, 200-pound, Four Star Forward

List: Louisville, Florida State, Mich. St., N.C. St., Maryland & Cincinnati

Myles Turner: 6-foot-11, 260-pound, Four Star Center

List: Louisville, Ohio State, Baylor, SMU & Texas, among others.

There are multiple other front-court prospects that have received interest from the Louisville staff such as Myles Turner and Devin Robinson, but it appears that the players listed above are the top targets, in no particular order.

I worry about players named Angel…we see how the last one turned out. Playing for Gonzaga!

    • Alex

low rated 3 star who was known purely for shooting compared to a rising 4 star forward with many more elements to his game.

With Wayne, Luke, and incoming Gill all in the fold – I am sure Angel saw that there was just really no PT available for him at the 3 position, the only position he is really suited for

I watched tape on Angel today and he’s a flat out stud…..i can’t decide b/t him and Lyles. angel a monster athlete, with good moves, lyles is an average athlete, with pro post up and face ups moves.

Don’t think of that Angel…think of the best Angel to have put on a Cardinal Jersey. Angel McCoughtry! Remember how dominant she was, yea and she was also a 4* girl coming out of high school.
